I love books. I love reading books. I love the smell of old books even. I love sitting down and reading all day (or all night more often then not) having lost complete track of time and suddenly seeing the sun come back up. I just finished the most recent Robin Hobb book called Fool's Assassin and I am in total foaming at the mouth fangirl mode over it. Many people have a OTP for some fandom from anime, games, manga, TV series, ect. Mine is in a book series and when it was announced that they were coming back I went crazy. I was suppose to be packing and doing other important moving stuff. Instead I stayed up until 5 AM (multiple times) to read this book because I was so excited and I could not put it down.

And now that I am done I have noticed I do not have anyone to talk to about it. Or really any of the books I love. I recommend books to people often. I talk about favorite authors sometimes but really, I don't know anyone who reads as actively as I do. I have no one to cry with over character deaths or laugh at each other when we notice we are using swears or praying to the gods of a fictional world. (I cannot tell you how much I plea to Sa and Eda that Robin Hobb will write the next book as lightning speeds.) I also have no one to comiserate with when finishing that award winning book (or series of books) and just going...really? That was award winning? That was crap! Or when you read a book by a beloved author and just go, "Was this really written by the same person?! That was one of the worst book I have had the displeasure of reading."

I am in need of book buddies. People who love to read, want to suggest books to one another, maybe even plan to read some around the same time so that discussions can be held. I want to complain when a loved books gets turned into an awful movie or rejoice when it gets turned into a good one or even downright shock when the movie is actually better (I only have 1.5 examples of this). I used to have plenty of book reading friends but somewhere along the line, they stopped reading as much and now I seem to have no one to talk to about the books I read.

So, dear watchers. Are any of you readers? What is the most recent book you have read or are currently reading? Who is (are) your favorite author(s)? Favorite book (series)?

For me, well, I already told you I just finished Robin Hobb's Fool's Assassin. My favorite authors would be Robin Hobb, Ursula K LeGuin (her scifi more than her fantasy), Eoin Colfer, and Felix J. Palma is trying to win a spot on this list and very well might. Favorite books? That is a hard one for me because it rather depends on the day. Mark Helprin's Winter's Tale is one of the most beautifully written books ever and I recommend it to everyone but I am quite in love with Hobb's Elderling series, the Tawny Man trilogy is my favorite in that saga so far. I grew up on Colfer's Artemis Fowl books and they will always hold a special place. While LeGuin's Hanish Cycle novels never cease to amaze me with their originality. Lastly, as I mentioned that Felix J Palma's Map of Time was an amazing read. I am excited to start on the second in the series soon and we will see after the third comes out if he has won a spot on my list of authors or not.

I enjoy reading but I don't do it as much as I have in the past. But John Flanagan is my favorite writer and he created the Rangers Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles which I just absolutely love.
