Want your own? Check on my tutorial on how to make them here!

Ornaments that will be decorating my tree this year! I love the Zelda goddess pearls so much. I wish I could make them glow like in the game. Ah, maybe next year I will experiment with some LED lights inside.

I updated the glitter colors some from last year. Mostly the blue one, I am finally happy with it. Din's Pearl is the easiest and Naryu and Farore are pretty time consuming. I still sometimes do those in multiple stages, I just can't paint the designs fast enough before the glue starts to dry.

Hope you like them! Happy holidays everyone!

Not so much when you include the clean up step. I often make them less then perfect and remove the extra with my exacto. It is just tedious and if you aren't one for tedious things it can get frustrating.

Good thing I am much up for tedious stuff! Im a sculptor myself and often spend over 40 hours on one piece. :D I would love to try this! They turn out so pretty. <3333

I knew that, I have seen your work quite a few times and it always impresses me. I have no doubt that you would be able to make these without much issue.

They are even prettier in person, the way they sparkle just cannot be captured on camera. I wish it could.

*o* so those symbols are from Zelda! I was thinking it looks awfully familiar but I can't seem to recall.
A really delicate job done well! I'm amazed you did it very neatly! :D

Haha, no worries. I wanted the tutorial to be rather generic so I didn't mention they were from Zelda. I just happen to always have to make several sets of these each year and it was easiest to photograph them for the tutorial.

wow, so making this ornaments are a yearly ritual for you? :D
you must've had plenty already! (although it's rather obvious from your gallery)

Do you do a themed Christmas tree decoration? or just randomly make ones that you feel like making at that time?

Not and intentional ritual. I go to make some new ones every year. New designs and such. But every year more of my family and friends want some of them (the Zelda ones are rather popular). Cousins moving into their own places so they want a set for their own tree and such. Sometimes the younger kids accidentally break some meaning replacements need making. They all want a bit of the nerdyness on their own trees and it makes for nice gifts. I get to theme them with things they like, it has the personal touch, and it doesn't cost me too much to make them. My uncle who is a huge Star Wars buff is super jealous of my dad's new Star Wars ornaments and made several hints that I make him some next year.

After I finish the the remakes for family and friends I just kind of go with the flow. I don't always know what I will make and sometimes I just experiment with what I can do. Somethings work, somethings don't. I tend to focus on things I am into, hence the Animal Crossing ornament and my many, many trials of pokeballs.

aah, I see. Oh, I love personal touches for presents! It makes things more special ^_^ They make for really nice gifts indeed.
Hehehe, I'm sure your uncle couldn't wait for next year's Christmas. He'll be delighted to get some of your ornaments

Ah, yup. It's just like being carried away in making crafts
The animal crossing leaf ornament you did is super cute! and pokeballs huh? I'm trying to think of a way... but it is tricky indeed. Have you tried painting the lower half of the inside with white, let it dry... then paint the upper half (with red paint over the inner white paint), let it dry... then paint the "black ring" and button on the outside?

what do you do with your experiments that didn't turn out as you wished?

The pokeball problem isn't the coloring. I have a way to do that. I want to make it with glitter but white glitter is see through for some reason. I have tired putting white paint behind the white glitter but then you can't see the glitter at all. I am going to try different brands of white glitter next year. I tired to make the bottom silver but it just looks off. I have also tried just painting the bottom white and glittering the top red but it looks a bit weird too.

The last game I've played was Wind Waker, since I do not own a wii or anything more recent.
Plus, I'm still fond of my memories of playing Link's Awakening and A Link to the past, to be honest...

Oh, well with a gamecube you can play Twilight Princess. The cube version is better IMO, the controls were rather wonky on the Wii since it was a port and all. Link to the Past and Wind Waker are my favorites still though I go back and forth on which one I like best. As pretty as Skyward Sword is, there were major parts that annoyed me but I can't recommend Link Between Worlds enough. Really, it has that Link to the Past feel that all us oldie zelda fans find lacking in all the newer ones.

Wind Waker was a good game but I disliked the sea exploration- I prefer exploring lands, and that is one reason that I loved the zelda games.
What you say about LbW sounds very interesting, I ought to check it out...

I actually did not mind the sea exploration in Zelda but I know it was one of the major complains most people had and I can understand it. You would probably really like the Link Between Worlds. If you have a 3ds already it is definately worth picking up, if not, well there are some good Christmas sales still running =p

Is the 3DS worthy game-wise? Are there any good games for it?
As a matter of fact my greatest need right now is a new PC; my 10-year old machine is not good for games or programs anymore... so I guess the 3DS has to wait for some time...

I love my 3ds but the games have been a bit slow but I don't regret it because the games that have come out are the types I can pour hundreds of hours into. There is the Ocarina of Time remake, if you are a fan of that Zelda game (I am not so much), Animal Crossing New Leaf (I am still playing every single day), Pokemon XY, 2 Mario games that are both good platformers, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, and Kingdom Hearts 3D. They are also getting more 3rd party support in the next year but the Nintendo games have been stellar. Not to mention there is a pretty decent library of gameboy-gba games you can get on Virtual console on the 3DS.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SPARKLY. Ohmigawd. Looks so much prettier than just glitter-ing the whole outside of the ornament (and I'm loving all the steps in the tutorial minimizing the spread of glitter, both with the finished product and its creation).

The outside designs are awesome as well, the edges look super crisp and the circles and spacing look perfect and symetrical. Very pretty :)

Also, that Jack-O-lantern ornament is awesome. And I reeeally want to make a black glitter ornament, or something, because again that just looks awesome.

I SHALL OVERUSE 'AWESOME' 'CAUSE IT PERFECTLY DESCRIBES THESE ORNAMENTS. MUAHA. Also, tiredness. Bah.

It also makes the design on them more noticeable because the glitter colors are competing with each other in the same way. Not to mention glitter on the outside just gets lumpy =p

The fine glitter costs a good deal more than the cheapo glitter most people think of. It only makes sense to try and save as much as possible. Not to mention, it spreads and spreads. If you don't even try to contain it you will find it on things for years with containment it seems to limit it to months >.>

I will admit the crispness is all in the clean up after glitter gluing. I don't have to clean up Din's pearl too much, that one is pretty simple, but the other two are much harder. Especially Nayru with the circles and the half moons. I used Din's for the tutorial because it was the only one I was sure I would be able to paint on the glue and take pictures of before the glue dried.

Haha, I like my jack-o-lantern too. I though it would be nice to have some Halloween ornaments. I admit, I did the black for the dark triforce and was surpised with how pretty it looks. I want to make more black ones but I don't know how to make them very festive =p

And you can overuse whichever words you like. I don't mind XD

I have. I am allergic to metal, all of them not just nickel like most people, so I don't have a desire for them like other people. I would like to see some make with a cast rather then 3d printed though. The stair stepping the 3d printing is still too much for me.
