Hats do not cover eyes. The model head is made smaller than the average human head. This causes the hat to cover the eyes and parts of the face that it will not on a person.</b>
Edit: I was in a rush before and didn't get a chance to type of a real description. Hm, lets see. I dropped everything I was doing to make this. I am working on some new resin projects, pony plushies, commission designs, a bathrobe for my boyfriend, and gravity falls t-shirt designs for the WeLoveFine contest. All of these things were put on hold so I could full time this. I watched the clip of Fennekin in the trailer video around 100 times. I wanted to get everything right.
Those ears! Crazy things they are. I think I need a comparison shot of these ears to my regular fox hat ears. They are sooo big and they will stand up without the stuffed ear tufts so look for the new Fennec hat in the next week or two.
The ear tufts gave me a bit of trouble. See the top, uhm, flame bits? They are actually a separate piece and can move independently of the main tuft. The crease in the main tufts and in the side white tufts are not machine sewn. I did not want them to be flat creases for this so I had to hand sewn them. I use a technique similar to fabric sculpting. It allows you to mold the fabric without pulling it flat. Giving it shape that would require many more seams to have normally and all those seams could look odd. I really wanted the tufts to look fluffy and not flat.
I also debated about putting the three lines on the forehead but after watching the trailer too many times I decided they were needed since they on the 3D model.
Hope you like it! But sure to let me know what you think.
